Eyelash Extensions Process

I am a fully trained and qualified Nouveau lash technician in Chelmsford, Essex.  When I first decided to become qualified for eyelash extensions, I have to admit that I thought it would be really easy.  Boy, was I wrong!  This process takes A LOT of practice and patience.  I think it took me about 15 models before I even felt confident to provide the service.  I wanted to explain the eyelash extensions process to help others find the right technician and avoid potential eyelash damage.

Individual eyelash extensions are specifically designed to give noticeably thicker and longer lashes, but it's not that straight forward.  There are some lash technicians that will add thick lashes to their client just because she wants more volume.  This will cause damage to the lashes and in worse cases, might cause them to fall out before they're meant to.  Think of it like hair extensions, if the extension is too heavy for your hair, it will break off and damage your own hair.

How do I know my eyelashes won't be damaged?

The safest way to have eyelash extensions is through a trained Nouveau lash technician.  We are trained to use weight for weight eyelashes that do not damage or cause trauma to your own eyelashes.  As a matter of fact, your eyelashes will most likely be healthier with eyelash extensions because you don't need to curl them or put mascara on.

What's the difference between volume and natural?

One of the many things I have learned is that the word 'Volume', 'Dramatic', and 'Natural' mean something different to everyone.  Individual eyelash extensions do add volume, if your version of volume is just slightly thicker than your own eyelashes.  If you're looking for something along the lines of what false strip eyelashes achieve or a little more density than what you have, volume eyelashes might be a better option for you.  Some people are happy with the amount of eyelashes they have, and would just like to see them a little more.  In that case, the individual eyelashes would work beautifully.

How long does the eyelash extension process take?

The eyelash extensions process take approximately 1 1/2 hours for a natural look.  For a slightly more dramatic look, it could take as much as 2-3 hours (depending on how many natural eyelashes you have).  Your eyelashes are measured in terms of weight and density to ensure you are getting the most appropriate eyelashes.  Your technician will then isolate one lash and either apply a single eyelash extension or multiple (for volume) to your natural eyelash.  The products from Nouveau are completely vegan for this process and the eyelashes are synthetic.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

Eyelash extensions last 8-12 weeks with regular maintenance.  After your initial treatment you are advised for regular check-ups to ensure your eyelashes retain their look.
I think some people don't understand that eyelashes go through a renewal process just like our skin.  It takes 4-6 weeks for our eyelashes to reach their full length before they fall out naturally and start over.  It's almost impossible to know what eyelashes have reached this period when doing extensions so you could have anywhere from 20-40% of your eyelashes fall out within the first couple of weeks because they had reached their full potential.  When you have eyelash extensions,  I offer a free 7 day check after your initial full set treatment to ensure everything is ok.  To ensure your eyelashes are looking their best, you will be advised to return for maintenance every 2-3 weeks.
