Are Eyelash Extensions Worth it?
I use to really enjoy doing my makeup and would spend over an hour perfecting every last detail. As I've gotten older, I have no interest in spending any more than 10 minutes getting ready. That said, there are only a few areas that can enhance your features naturally without too much effort.
Naturally define your features
The areas of the face that you can make the most impact in the littlest amount of time are the eyelashes, eyebrows, and lips. For the purposes of this particular blog post, I'm going to focus on eyelash extensions. If you asked me 'are eyelash extensions worth it?', I would say yes!
Eyes are the window to the soul
You've probably heard this saying before and if you feel that your eyes are your best feature, then making them stand out without spending too much time might sound almost impossible. Getting eyelash extensions is the quickest and easiest way to make your eyes appear either bigger, longer, or brighter. Depending on the type of eyelash extensions you get, can even make your eyes appear to have eyeliner on! Check out the slider below so you can see what I mean.
What else can eyelash extensions do for me?
Eyelash extensions are relatively inexpensive (depending on what kind you get) and there are several different kinds of styles. There are 2 main types which are classics and volume. If you'd like to know the difference between them, check out this post. There is no need to wear mascara so that alone will save you ££. Eyelash extensions will also save you time in the morning.
Balance facial features
I think the most amazing part of having eyelash extensions is that they can actually help to balance out other features on your face. For example, if you'd like to make your nose look smaller, eyelash extensions can take the focus away from other features in a subtle way without having to use so much makeup. If your eyes are either too far apart or too close together, eyelash extensions can help to balance that out too.
What is the maintenance like?
With Volume eyelashes, infills are every 3 weeks. It is such a relaxing experience and a lot of people say it's better than a massage! Classic eyelash extensions require infills roughly every 2-3 weeks. In my opinion (and my clients), the best part of having eyelash extensions is waking up half way done with your makeup and not having to worry about eyeshadow because your eyes already look 'awake' and so much brighter!
What are the cons though?
So there are some things to be aware of if you do decide to get eyelash extensions.
Cost - For Volume eyelashes the infills are every 3 weeks. Classics are every 2-3 weeks. They are also highly addictive, but I have a lot of clients that like to get them for their holiday.
Now every lash artist has different aftercare but it is pretty minimal on the whole. Some lash artists say do not get your eyelash extensions wet for the first 48 hours and others say don't get them wet until the next day. You will need to stay away from extreme humidity for the first 24-48 hours as well as no swimming, jacuzzi's, sauna's, and even hot ovens. You will also need to clean your lashes regularly with a lash/lid cleanser. It's really easy to do and it will help your lashes to stay on longer, and stay healthy. All eyelash extension treatments also require a patch test. If you'd like to set up a patch test, you can contact me here.
